Senior Accountant – Victoria, BC
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Victoria-based head office. Key Responsibilities:
Support the day-to-day accounting operations, including managing accounts payable and maintaining the general ledger.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
Prepare account reconciliations, cash flow forecasts, and supporting documentation.
Manage preparation of common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and tenant recovery statements.
Accurately process all tenant-related financial transactions.
Identify and recommend process improvements and support ongoing system enhancements.
Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, and project support to the Controller and Finance Director.
Ensure timely submission of statutory filings such as GST returns, property tax reports, and other regulatory requirements.
Support audit and tax preparation processes, including coordination with external auditors.
Maintain and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA designation (completed or actively pursuing).
Experience:
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Prior exposure to real estate accounting (property management or real estate development strongly preferred).
Solid grasp of full-cycle accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
Technical Skills:
Understanding of industry-specific accounting treatments, including revenue recognition, cost capitalization, tenant recoveries, and CAM reconciliations.
Familiarity with tax implications relevant to real estate entities (preferred).
Strong proficiency with accounting systems; experience with SAP Business One is an asset.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis functions).
