We are looking for a highly analytical and business-savvy Costing & Pricing Business Analyst to join our team. The role is critical in driving profitability by delivering accurate product costing models, supporting pricing strategies, and contributing to commercial decision-making. Key Responsibilities
Costing & Estimating:
- Develop detailed cost models, including materials, machine time, labor, finishing, and freight.
- Work closely with estimating and production teams to ensure cost accuracy and consistency across product lines.
- Maintain and update cost databases, factoring in changes in raw material pricing, labor rates, and overhead allocations.
- Analyze historical job data to refine costing assumptions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Pricing Strategy & Analysis:
- Assist in developing pricing frameworks for various customer segments, order sizes, and production configurations.
- Evaluate and propose customer-specific pricing based on margin goals, volume, complexity, and market competitiveness.
- Support the sales team with accurate and timely pricing for bids, tenders, and custom requests.
- Monitor profitability of jobs and accounts and recommend pricing adjustments as needed.
Business Insights & Financial Analysis:
- Provide financial and operational insights through pricing and margin analysis dashboards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to cost of goods sold (COGS) and contribution margins.
- Conduct scenario modeling to assess the impact of raw material price changes, volume fluctuations, or new technology investments.
- Partner with operations to align production capabilities and costing with commercial goals.
Key Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in finance, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (CMA/CPA/MBA plus).
- 35 years of experience in a costing, pricing, or estimating role in the printing and/or packaging industry.
- Proficiency in Excel, ERP/MIS systems (e.g., EFI, Netsuite, etc.), and business intelligence tools.
- Understanding of print production processes, such as offset, digital, flexo, die cutting, lamination, and kitting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle customized, variable pricing scenarios.
- Knowledge of Accounting and financial principles is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
- Client-facing experience is beneficial, should be able to make presentations to various stakeholders
- Advanced skills with MS Excel/Office.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, under tight deadlines.
- Ability to learn new industries and new business types quickly and can apply this knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving skills and detail oriented.
- The ability to convey technical issues and material to non-technical people.
- Exceptional documentation skills are required.
