BILLING CLERK (CONTRACT)

We are currently seeking a Billing Clerk for a full time 24-month contract to join our client's busy accounting team. The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant and team-oriented group of people. The successful candidate will be energetic, flexible, highly motivated and driven to succeed.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Coordinate the billing process for lawyers and paralegals

  • Prepare and review prebills as per schedule required and in accordance with client guidelines and firm standards

  • Apply retainer funds as directed by lawyers

  • Process write-offs following firm policy

  • Prepare various reports related to time entries, billing, receivables, etc. as required

  • Research, reconcile, and respond to inquiries regarding billing discrepancies and problems, ensuring that they are

  • resolved in a timely manner

  • Maintain up-to-date exception rates and update billing rates when required

  • Ensuring work billed out at appropriate client-approved rates

  • Ensuring all billing protocols followed

  • Working with Insurers regarding file billing setup

  • Delivery of invoices to external & internal recipients

  • Ad hoc requests as needed to support the accounting team

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 2+ years of experience in a billing role in a professional services environment

  • Advanced technical skills including Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel

  • Experience with Elite or equivalent accounting software experience a plus

  • Experience with e-billing software like: TyMetrix, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, and Legal-X

  • Aptitude for working with numbers and technology

  • A strong orientation to delivering a superior standard of service

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong organization skills to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced and time sensitive

  • environment

  • Ability to handle a high volume of bills per month

  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants

  • Calm and don't get flustered easily

  • Personable, helpful, and incredibly organized and enjoy collaborating across teams

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all clients and firm and billing matters

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 annually, which represents a fair market value and estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant education, experience and qualifications.
