The Opportunity:
As part of the dynamic Technology team at the Hunter global head office, The Data Analytics & Engineering Manager will be responsible for driving the implementation of data analytics capabilities within Hunter Amenities. This role will lead teams and projects, oversee vendors, and ensure the successful delivery of the D&A strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to translate business needs into actionable data solutions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, creation, and management of the organization's data architecture, ensuring data is organized, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
- Develop and implement plans to improve data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps.
- Oversee the implementation of database management systems, defining data & business schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures.
- Design and implement processes for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources into the data systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Translate high-level business requirements into data models, metadata, test data, and data quality standards.
- Simplify existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities in line with company policies and standards.
- Define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality.
- Collaborate with IT teams, business analysts, and other teams to understand data consumers' needs and develop solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
- Develop analytical strategies to solve business problems, identify relevant data, gather and summarize data meaningfully, and apply appropriate statistical analysis.
- Transform complex data into easy-to-follow reporting through graphing, charts, and dashboards.
- Implement data quality controls and validation checks to identify and address data anomalies, inconsistencies, or errors.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, data mappings, and workflow diagrams.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to guide solution design and implementation to meet business needs, including waterfall or agile projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to extract, clean, manipulate, visualize, and model large datasets.
- High understanding of data visualization tools such as Power BI for both static and dynamic reporting, database/Big Data technologies (Access, SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop), and programming languages (Python, R).
- Understanding of entity-relationship modeling, metadata systems, and data quality tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services, real-time data distribution, and modern data warehouse tools.
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
- Ability to identify patterns, correlations, and trends from data that can provide insights into business operations, customer behavior, or market dynamics.
- Willingness and ability to stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and tools in data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and business intelligence.
- Strong storytelling, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize and clearly communicate large volumes of complex information to stakeholders of various business levels and technical understandings.
- Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with global & cross-functional teams, involving IT & business stakeholders, vendors and business analysts.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Additional consideration given to candidates with experience applying data science and AI, such as graph analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing, to a business environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or data engineer with relevant experience in design and implementation of data models for enterprise data warehouse initiatives
- Experience leading projects involving multiple Data science disciplines, including data quality, data modeling, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in the creation of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for the effective communication of insights to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Substantial experience with relational customer databases and query tools and Designing in analytics platforms like Incorta, Azure Databricks or similar; Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Parquet and Spark are a bonus.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including executives, managers, and marketing professionals, to provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
