The Role
As a key member of our team the Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading and executing all aspects of Naturally Pacific Resort's supply chain operations, including procurement, forecasting, inventory control, and shipping/receiving. This role utilizes data analysis, reporting tools, and established planning methods to manage material requirements and align supply strategies with the organization's financial goals. The Purchasing Supervisor oversees vendor relationships, monitors key performance indicators, and ensures accuracy and efficiency in inventory and logistics processes. They also directly supervise and participate in shipping and receiving activities, ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining organized storage areas, and supporting internal departments through accurate and timely delivery of goods. This hands-on leadership role is essential to the operational success and continued growth of the resort.
Your contributions to the team include:
- Utilize data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting tools to forecast supply and material needs across the organization.
- Request quotes and review proposals and supply agreements.
- Supervise the creation of materials requirements plans and forecasts using established tools and methods.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for supply chain planning and forecasting; enact changes based on findings.
- Facilitate, lead, and support all supplier relationships; conduct periodic supplier capability assessments.
- Seek and establish ways to align the supply chain unit with the organization's financial revenue goals.
- Maintain strict control over materials inventory by managing monthly counts, identifying discrepancies between records and physical stock, and taking corrective action to meet internal and external product demand.
- Manage material lifecycle, including identifying discontinued products and sourcing suitable replacements.
- Ensure commissioning packages for new properties are complete and delivered on schedule.
- Understand organizational growth and align the Supply Chain Department accordingly.
- Oversee all shipping and receiving activities.
- Participate in shipping and receiving functions, including inspecting deliveries, unloading, labeling, storing, and tracking inventory.
- Ensure all shipping and receiving activities comply with hotel policies and safety regulations.
- Keep delivery bay, storage rooms, and shipping/receiving areas clean and organized.
- Communicate with departments to coordinate the delivery of items as needed.
- Assist with administration, logistics, and supply planning as required.
- Additional tasks and duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in purchasing or supply chain management.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role.
- 1+ year of shipping/receiving experience preferred.
- Hospitality industry experience is an asset.
- Certification or higher in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
- Forklift Operator Certificate an asset.
- Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management.
- Familiarity with SCM, ERP, and/or MRP software.
- Understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts and theories.
- Advanced procurement and supplier negotiation skills.
- Experience with inventory control systems, stock management, and shipping documentation.
- Ability to lift, move, and store items in a physically demanding environment.
- Experience using equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage schedules and meet deadlines while coordinating across departments.
