Job Description

At Manitoulin Transport's Barrie Terminal, we're a dynamic and growing logistics company committed to providing exceptional service to our clients. We value teamwork, safety, and a strong work ethic.

We are currently seeking a reliable and physically capable Dock Worker to join our team. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe loading and unloading of freight, primarily utilizing a forklift. You will also play a key part in maintaining an organized and clean dock environment and ensuring accurate handling of all shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to load and unload inbound and outbound trailers.
  • Load and unload freight from local Pickup and Delivery (P&D) units.
  • Accurately document any overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D) in accordance with company procedures.
  • Reweigh and cube freight as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock and yard area, ensuring it is free of debris.
  • Perform some heavy lifting as needed to move and handle freight.
  • Assist customers with freight pick-ups and drop-offs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform general cleaning duties for the dock and trailers.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work afternoon and night shifts when operational needs require.
Qualifications
    • Proven experience operating a forklift.
    • Excellent punctuality and attendance is an asset.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when interacting with customers.
    • Positive attitude

Nice-to-Have Skills/Experience:

    • Experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
    • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
    • Familiarity with electronic scanning equipment.
    • Safety certifications beyond forklift operation.
