Position Summary:The Logistics Operations Manager will lead and oversee the day-to-day execution of international and domestic shipment operations across multiple modes of transport (air, ocean, ground, and rail). This role is responsible for managing a team of operations specialists and coordinators, ensuring shipments are executed with precision, efficiency, and in full compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the operations team responsible for coordinating global shipments across all transportation modes.

  • Oversee the full shipment lifecycle: booking, documentation, tracking, carrier communication, exception management, and delivery confirmation.

  • Ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate handling of all shipments, maintaining high levels of service quality and client satisfaction.

  • Produce reports and provide analytical commentary and actionable insights to the leadership team on a regular basis.

  • Collaborate with sales, trucking, and warehouse teams to ensure a seamless logistics process.

  • Monitor carrier performance and escalate service failures or disruptions; identify and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, workflows, and KPIs to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to maintain a high-performance culture.

  • Stay current on international shipping regulations, customs compliance, and industry best practices.

  • Proactively identify process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and potential service enhancements.

  • Use TMS (Transportation Management System) and other logistics tools to ensure visibility, traceability, and data accuracy across shipments.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of international shipping processes, documentation, Incoterms, and compliance regulations.

  • Experience managing multimodal shipments (air, ocean, ground, and rail).

  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and operational excellence.

  • Familiarity with customs brokerage and trade compliance processes.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CIFFA, IATA, FIATA, or CILT are a plus.

  • Experience working with freight marketplaces, digital freight platforms, or automated TMS tools.
