Position Overview:

Penny Appeal Canada is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Special Events Coordinator as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. The Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of various special events and fundraising initiatives throughout the summer months.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and coordination of various initiatives, including but not limited to events, campaigns, and community-based activities.
  • Assist with logistical arrangements such as venue coordination, vendor communication, supplies, and transportation requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contacts to help manage timelines, budgets, and necessary materials for assigned projects.
  • Support the recruitment, coordination, and orientation of volunteers or temporary support staff, where applicable.
  • Contribute to communication and promotional efforts across different platforms, including digital and print, to enhance visibility and participation.
  • Provide on-site or remote assistance during activities or events, including setup, participant support, and general troubleshooting.
  • Assist with post-initiative wrap-up tasks such as collecting feedback, compiling reports, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure records and documentation related to initiatives are maintained accurately, including financial tracking, participant data, and evaluation outcomes.
  • Flexibly support other departments at Head Office as needed, contributing to cross-functional tasks and organizational priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or recent graduate (within the last year).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with event management software/tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and passion for humanitarian and charitable work is an asset.
