Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Team Lead to oversee our Design Studio team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented leader who is passionate about design and thrives in both residential and commercial environments. Youll manage project workflows, mentor team members, and play a key role in ensuring high standards of quality, creativity, and efficiency.

This position offers hybrid/remote work flexibility, and a chance to lead a talented group of professionals who care about great designand each other.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and support a growing team of architectural technologists and designers.
  • Oversee the allocation of project tasks, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support the professional growth of team members through feedback, training, and performance development.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, municipalities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Seek out and identify new project opportunities, potential clients, and leads to support studio growth and business development.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in studio processes and output.

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Guide the creation of high-quality architectural designs and technical drawings for residential and commercial projects.
  • Oversee the preparation of site plans, construction documentation, 3D renderings, and permit applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, zoning bylaws, and technical standards.
  • Review and approve design packages for accuracy, consistency, and design intent.
  • Conduct occasional site visits for measurements, inspections, and project coordination.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Degree, or Certification in Architectural Drafting, Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of architectural drafting/design experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working on residential (custom homes, townhomes, infills) and commercial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural software (SketchUp, Lumion, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of local building codes, municipal processes, and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for great design.
