Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work Onsite with our client in Cambridge, ON. Interested?
Here's what you'd do:
- The Machinist/Toolmaker is responsible setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to perform various tasks such as drilling, milling, and turning.
- This role needs a combination of technical skills, precision, and problem-solving abilities to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain equipment by completing PMs and calling for repair if needed
- Troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues
- Prepare and load/set up the raw material or die sections in the machine
- Manufacture, modify and repair precision tools, jigs, fixtures according to specifications, blueprints and technical drawings
- Program/Run CNC code from provided CAD data using Mastercam
- Interact with CAD specialist/Toolmakers to refurbish/improve/build spares
- Use of various equipment/tools to create and repair tooling, including, but not limited to, grinders, welding equipment, machining equipment, overhead cranes

Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Min 5 years experience setting up & machining on medium to large horizontal machining centers & boring mills
- Min 5 years experience setting up and machining large castings and weldments
- Must be able to read & edit G & M code
- Must be familiar with selecting/building/picking up tooling
- Strong understanding of materials, specifically pertaining to tool speed & feed selection
- Strong understanding in selecting/setting up & using a variety of inspection tooling
- Must be familiar with Renishaw probing
- Strong blueprint reading with good understanding of GD&T
- Must be familiar with Fanuc controls
- Strong background with overhead cranes specifically pertaining to large part rigging, manipulating & loading(15,000 lbs)
- Good understanding of weld & fabrication processes
- Must be able to effectively train/teach/coach other machinists/operators
- Strong ability to troubleshoot machine function related issues
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience programming via Mastercam
- Background in developing machining processes
- Experience designing fixturing/tooling
- Knowledge of macro B parametric programming (this is what we use for automation)
- Experience in both a productions & job shop environment
Additionally, most of our machining are on mill – specifically horizontal boring mills.
It is important for the candidate to have background specifically in horizontal mills/boring mills with experience in machining weldments.
We will consider with/without license.
