Job Title: Hydro Mechanical Engineer

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Our Client is seeking to fill an opening that we have for an experienced Hydro Mechanical Engineer to join our team of professionals committed to excellence in hydro generation projects. You will be a key player in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient solutions for medium to large hydroelectric projects, including generator/turbine overhauls and intake/spill gates. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydro generation systems and a passion for innovation and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Hydro Generation Focus: Design and implement upgrades for generator and turbine overhauls .

Investigate, report, and recommend corrective actions for non-conformances in hydroelectric projects to maintain operational standards.

Oversee the planning and execution of major projects, including budgeting, quoting, and ensuring project success from start to finish.

Lead Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) efforts to ensure project quality meets our standards.

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, material suppliers, and machine shops to facilitate smooth project operations.

Manage and maintain comprehensive documentation, including project data and engineering drawings.

Participate in peer drawing reviews to uphold design integrity and project efficiency.

Mentor and train new engineering employees to foster growth and skill development within the team.

Review and manage shop work status at machine shops and site work as needed.

Perform dimension inspections using Romer Arm or Laser Tracker or analyze data provided by others.

Utilize AutoCAD Inventor for designing and drawing project components.

Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure precision in all design work.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation or a Diploma in Mechanical Technology.

Hydroelectric Experience: Minimum of 3 years in hydroelectric plant operations and hydro generation projects.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving issues within hydro generation systems.

Licensing: Class G driver's license is mandatory.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.

Flexibility and Travel: Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed for project work.

Must be legally employable in Canada (Note: U.S. candidates should refer to our U.S. postings).

Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.

Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
