Job Title: Safety and HR Coordinator
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Job Summary:
The Safety and HR Coordinator position in Winnipeg, Manitoba, involves managing safety tasks, including maintaining compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety meetings, and managing PPE inventory. The role also encompasses HR responsibilities such as posting job openings, screening candidates, and handling employee onboarding and performance reviews.
This is a unique opportunity to join our team on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave for our HR Safety Coordinator. The contract will run from available start date to approximately March 4th, 2027, with a possibility of extension depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Tasks:
- Maintain requirements for Avetta, ISN, Site-docs, COR,
- Maintain TRIF scores and annual statistics.
- Maintain WCB and ensure a timely response when claims are submitted.
- Organize the bi-weekly technician safety meetings for all departments
- Plan and coordinate the safety committee meetings.
- Maintain and add written policies and programs as needed.
- Assist in the creation of project site safety plans as needed.
- Partake in regular site inspections.
- Complete prequalification documents that require safety or HR information.
- Schedule and book training for employees requiring certifications (special requests or expiring certs)
- Assist with safety requests from service and project managers.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Monitor, track, and manage the condition and inventory of PPE.
- Ensure company vehicle deficiencies (safety related) are being dealt with.
- Investigate incident/accident/near misss as they arise.
- Monitor safety requirements such as PSIs, monthly inspections, etc. and send compliance to management monthly.
HR Tasks:
- Post job postings on LinkedIn, indeed, Glassdoor
- screening candidates
- conducting initial interviews.
- Handle employee onboarding/ offboarding and orientation programs.
- Manage all customer required clearances: CN/CP, OLISS Reliability
- Maintain Bamboo employee information regarding milestones, years of service, sick days, vacation ensuring this information is accurate.
- Book performance reviews for managers and ensure they are being completed.
- Book 90-day performance reviews for new employees and make sure they are completed.
- Manage HR documentation and employee and manger requests as needed.

Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act & Regulations and Worker Compensation Act.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to facilitate effective meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Holds a valid driver's licence
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with COR.
- Experience/knowledge in the construction industry is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with occasional site visits.
- Regular working hours (7:30AM 4:00PM) or (8:00AM 4:30PM)
