Position Overview

The VP of Product Management reports directly to the CPO and will work closely with both peers and senior leadership to steer product vision, build a high-performing product team, institute best practices, and lead the development and execution of a multi-year product strategy.

This leader will work closely with the CPO, building a Product Management discipline within VitalEdge. The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader who has experience in building teams and leading Product Management organizations within SaaS organizations. This role involves managing an international team of Product Managers, BA staff, and UX staff across multiple product platforms, identifying new opportunities in a changing technical and market landscape, and driving product innovation. The role also involves high-level decision-making, a systems-thinking approach, team leadership, and close interaction with customers, stakeholders, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and own the long-term product vision and strategy to support the company's growth objectives
  • Develop a scalable product roadmap aligned with market demands, customer needs, and organizational priorities
  • Serve as a thought leader and evangelist for the company's products and vision, both internally and externally

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of senior product managers, technical product managers, business analysts, and UX staff across multiple geographies
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the product organization
  • Build capabilities within the team to excel at market analysis, customer engagement, and agile product development

Product Management Execution

  • Oversee the development, delivery, and lifecycle management of the SaaS platform(s), ensuring seamless integration of capabilities that span the evolving needs of customers to create real product value for them
  • Foster and drive best practice product management methodology like pragmatic, lean UX etc. in the CPO organization
  • Prioritize product investments based on ROI, customer value, and strategic alignment
  • Partner with engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success to ensure timely delivery and adoption of high-quality products

Market & Customer Insight

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitive dynamics in the heavy equipment dealer market
  • Regularly engage with customers to deeply understand their challenges and requirements
  • Translate market insights into actionable product features and enhancements

Business Accountability

  • Institute a strong, product management process across the team
  • Institute lean practices for opportunity assessment and validation
  • Establish a new PM organization structure with clarified roles/ responsibilities/ dependencies
  • Own key product metrics, including adoption, customer satisfaction, and retention, as well as revenue growth tied to product performance
  • Establish processes for continuous improvement in product delivery and innovation
  • Establish strong, frontline staff collaboration between Product and all other groups (Sales, Marketing, CS, PS, Finance) in positioning and communicating product value
  • Establish robust customer intimacy activities for PMs
  • Gain significantly improved CSAT scores

Required Skills & Education

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years leading a team in a SaaS environment
  • Proven track record of scaling products and teams in a high-growth B2B environment
  • Experience working with complex platforms that integrate multiple business functions

Leadership & Technical Skills

  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills with a track record of building and retaining high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize data into actionable strategies
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, design thinking, and modern product development practices

Domain Expertise

  • A background in or knowledge of the heavy equipment or adjacent industries is a significant advantage
  • Ability to connect with diverse stakeholders, from C-suite executives to frontline users

Soft Skills

  • Visionary thinker with the ability to articulate and execute strategic goals
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Results-oriented, with a relentless focus on delivering customer value and business outcomes.
