Our client, a large oil & gas company, has an opening for a Maintenance Technician in the Estevan, SK area. Accommodations and/or subsistence could be provided for the right candidate and shift schedule is to be determined based on a 10 hour work day.

The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Equipment Lead and is responsible for the safe and reliable maintenance of the rotating equipment in all facilities in their area. The Mechanical Technician will be accountable for the monitoring and maintenance of rotating equipment while providing intervention to maintain safe reliable operation of the equipment within its design limits. The successful candidate will collaborate with other team members and contractors to troubleshoot and repair equipment. You will utilize preventative maintenance and work orders in our online asset management system to do the maintenance and the scheduling of work. You will also have upper management support through internal engineering staff to address operational and mechanical concerns in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and repair all rotating equipment
• Take a proactive approach to plant troubleshooting and explain rotating equipment and involvement to staff
• Work in conjunction with shift operators to optimize production and minimize costs
• Supervise work being done in the plant by third party contractors
• Organize and manage contractors when needed
• Contribute to professional, trusting relations with co-workers and contractors
• Maintain Plant Rotating Equipment consumer parts inventory and critical spares
• Maintain the rotating equipment Preventative Maintenance program for Gas Plants and Gas Gathering Systems
• Coordinate all work orders and preventative maintenance associated with rotating equipment
• Cooperate with operations and management regarding issues such as reporting and safety
• Order tools and machinery inventory
• Order rotating equipment critical spares for Gas Plants and Gas Gathering Systems (field compressors, including air compressors)
• Look after the shipping and receiving of parts and tools when required
• Communicate with operators from other shifts and prioritize work
• Manage costs associated with rotating equipment and report to supervisor
• Understand and manage purchase orders required for contract labor, ordering/replacing parts, tools, etc.
• Understand, build and use Job Safety Analysis (JSA)'s and Procedures specific to the job
• Coordinate work with Lead Operators at sites and utilize planned shutdowns for maintenance and operations jobs, aligning work to be done together
• Manage and keep up to date on training courses used to perform all jobs
• Assist in HAZOPS, LOPA Studies, etc. conducted on plants work is performed
• Assist Engineers with issues/concerns with rotating equipment
• Work to optimize and maximize performance of all rotating equipment with involvement of operations and engineers at each of the facilities
• Work with suppliers to optimize value and service
• Manage all systems such as Operations Management System (OMS), eMaint, Management of Change (MOC) Anywhere, etc.
• Be available to advise/inspect any rotating equipment in inventory and give feedback on condition and performance
• Obtain clearance from operating staff and operations engineering for minor and major maintenance requirements
• Completion of tasks as assigned per weekly planning meetings
• Utilize programs and procedures that organize, coordinate and schedule work assignments and maintain operating records
• Ensure safety equipment is in good working condition through use of facility safety inspection
• As the qualified incumbent, oversee the work of the other employees/contractors as assigned to ensure work is performed in accordance with instructions, standards, and specifications
• Development, scheduling and completion of preventative maintenance and work orders
• Submit safety reporting forms on behalf of facility for:
• Safety observations
• Incident reports
• Release or spills on site
• Process safety upsets
• External communications with Stakeholders
• Acting safe work permit issuer (SWI)
• Chair safety meetings
• Assess and manage risk in all aspects of maintenance
• Provide coverage for holidays and sick days
• Hold high standard for workplace cleanliness
• Take a proactive approach to plant and compressor troubleshooting and optimization
• As a Journeyperson, you may be required to train apprentice personnel
Required Skills, Experience & Education:
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Interprovincial Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate or Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician Certificate
• Third or fourth Level Apprentice in above Trades with minimum four to five years' experience may be considered
• Valid driver's license
• Five (5) years of industry related experience in a mechanical setting
• Industry experience leading and scheduling work and fellow co-workers and contractors
• Capable and able to work with manual and power equipment tools
• Applicable mandatory Occupational Health & Safety training, certifications and other Corporately required training and certification
• Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in day-to-day activities and in making decisions in emergency situations
• Strong analytical and computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Able and willing to provide guidance and on-the-job training
• Commitment to continuous learning
