Sales and Marketing Manager Position Description

The Sales and Marketing Manager is part of a dedicated leadership team and plays the key role of improving passenger counts and revenue results. This is accomplished through elevating the profile of the Harbour Ferry product offerings to the local and visiting public, ensuring that bookings and dockside services are easy and welcoming, resolving any customer service issues to uphold the reputation of the business and finally ensuring the price point for services is fair and uniformly applied. Customer satisfaction is a primary focus as business success strongly relies on positive passenger experiences through all phases of engagement with Victoria Harbour Ferry.
This is a full time and hands-on role which reports directly to Ralmax Senior Executive. The position enjoys a high degree of autonomy and requires strong business acumen and self-management.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing and Promotion
In conjunction and collaboration with our 3rd party marketing agency, develops and executes marketing strategies and campaigns.
Ensures the VHF online presence, including websites and social media, is aligned to business goals.
Makes sure that all marketing materials such as brochures, maps and displays are up-to-date and effectively represent the business.
Maintains a strong understanding of customer needs and seasonal market dynamics.
Sales and Business Development
Identifies and pursues new sales opportunities.
Builds and maintains relationships with tourist agencies, tour operators, commercial clients and other partners.
Negotiates contracts and service agreements.
Sells tours, charters, special packages, and large group bookings.
Effectively handles sales enquiries and customer service issues on a timely basis.
Leverages all assets, including complementary Trolleys, to build sales momentum.
Provides timely response to the needs of all clients.
Other Responsibilities
Creates and manages annual budget for Sales and Marketing activities
Recruits, trains and supervises seasonal Dock Staff to ensure friendly and efficient customer service.
Ensures Point of Sale (POS) terminals are available, updated and operating properly.
Monitors sales volumes and trends and initiates actions to correct any drop-offs.
Skills and Qualities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent sales and presentation skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships.
Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry.
At least five years of hands-on experience dealing with the travelling public and tourist attraction leadership.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with marketing principles and digital marketing channels.
Educational Requirements
A specialty degree or diploma in tourism, business, marketing, communications or a related field is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience and accomplishments.
