Position Summary:
The Class 5 Hooklift Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a hooklift truck to deliver and pick up roll-off bins at customer sites and company facilities. This role also includes conducting routine inspections, performing yard maintenance, and assisting with other operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a Class 5 hooklift truck to deliver and pick up roll-off bins from customer locations.
Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
Ensure bins are secured and loaded according to safety and transportation standards.
Perform minor maintenance tasks and report mechanical issues as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of the truck and bin area.
Follow scheduled routes and communicate with dispatch regarding delivery/pickup status and route changes.
Assist with general yard duties, including cleaning, organizing bins, and other physical labor tasks as needed.
Adhere to all company safety policies and provincial transportation regulations.
Complete daily logs and reports accurately.
Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
Work overtime hours as required by operational demands.
Qualifications:
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract.
Experience operating a hooklift truck or similar equipment is an asset (training may be provided).
Ability to safely operate heavy vehicles and understand load securement procedures.
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Physically demanding role with frequent climbing, lifting, and maneuvering of bins.
Variable hours, including overtime as needed to meet customer demands.
