ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Accounting Specialist, you will play a vital role in the company's finance department, focusing on maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting broader financial reporting efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform basic bookkeeping functions including recording accounts payable, accruals, expenses, cash receipts and month-end journal entries
  • Calculate event organizer revenue share payments and submit for approval for payment
  • Assist with the preparation of bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations as required
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners
  • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support book-keeping and financial records
  • Preparing invoices, following up with hotels to obtain final room night reconciliation, and recording invoices in the accounting system
  • Maintain documentation of processes and related internal controls related to the position
  • Assistance with the preparation of year end working papers and financial statements
  • Perform other administrative duties of the finance department

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A post-secondary graduate or equivalent work experience in Accounting or related field
    • You must be eligible to work in Canada (open work permit, be a permanent resident of Canada or be a Canadian citizen)
  • 2+ years experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks or similar accounting software and Google workspace based platform (Gmail/sheets etc.) in addition to Excel
  • Advanced computer skills particularly with spreadsheets
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of data entry accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports
  • Able to perform account reconciliations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong focused work ethic and positive team attitude

  • This role requires working in our London, ON office with the possibility of moving to a hybrid role after the training period ends.
