Reporting to the Coordinator of L.I.F.E Services and and Day Programs, the Community Living Counsellor, Assistant Coordinator will provide support to the Coordinator in all aspects of team leadership, and home support. You will act as a day to day contact, problem solver and coach for a team of Community Living Counsellors. You will work closely with the team to provide meaningful and role-model Person-Centered Active Supports. Some of your duties can include:
- Provide support and engage individuals to live as full citizens
- Supporting the Coordinator with administrative and financial tasks
- Encouraging and motivating a team of Counsellors
- Supporting individuals with various life goals
- Community outings (including, but not limited to volunteering, paid employment and leisure activities)
- Maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression
- Coaching, role-modeling and mentoring your team in appropriate support techniques

About You
Your experience in providing sound, consistent and caring support to adults with developmental disabilities coupled with your leadership and management skills will enable you to flourish in this role. You are motivated by enabling individuals in achieving greater success in certain areas of their lives by providing skills and opportunities to develop, participate in their community, take part in community activities, obtain volunteer or paid employment and learn tasks of daily living. You will also meet other unique support needs including personal care.
Additionally, you have the following requirements:
Required:- Class 5 driver's license (permanent staff must be willing to obtain Class 4)
- Access to reliable car
- Travel within region
- Comfortable navigating transit system
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
- Clean driver's abstract
- Comfortable with personal care
- Comfortable supporting in pool and gym setting
- Prior paid or volunteer experience
- Experience with ASL (or willingness to learn)
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Mandt System®
- Previous leadership experience
- Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports
- Ability to maneuver a wheel chair

Hours: Flexibility with your availability is necessary for this position, below is a rough schedule.
- Monday 8am to 630pm
- Tuesday 8am to 630pm
- Wednesday 830am to 330pm
- Thursday 8am to 630pm
- Friday 830am to 330pm
(evenings and weekends may be required)
Monthly staff meetings and leader calls and meetings as required
Wage: Starting at $26.25 per hour + 1.00 Premium
