THE ROLE
We are seeking a Development Manager for a 3-month contract role reporting to the President of Unscripted. This role focuses on factual entertainment with the ideal candidate having a strong interest in History, Transactional and Adventure content. You'll play a key role in shaping our development slate, crafting innovative and marketable show ideas for broadcast, and streaming platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop show ideas/formats that align with Boat Rocker's strategic objectives and create decks/presentations for pitches
  • Take and evaluate third party pitches for potential development
  • Track competitive projects, take general meetings for future development and staffing
  • Create writer/director/talent lists, network to add to roster of inclusive & diverse group of high-quality creatives for Boat Rocker
  • Closely monitor and stay abreast of content-related industry evolutions and advancements, with an eye to what's trending next
  • Organizing and tracking buyer feedback and mandates
  • Assisting development executive team with demo shoots, research, and sourcing material
  • Support series in production when needed, generate creative notes for projects in active development as well as current series
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2+ years' of industry experience with demonstrated success in unscripted TV development at a production company and/or network
  • Interest, knowledge and enthusiasm for history, transactional and adventure content
  • A creative self-starter and ''idea machine'' who proactively brings in good ideas
  • Strong creative writing and influencing skills
  • A strong understanding of content creation for a diverse audience across multiple platforms
  • Ability to work in small teams as well as work independently. Proven organizational team player with good character who can both multitask and adapt to change and deal with unexpected obstacles within a fast-moving and fluid industry
  • A sense of wit, sophistication, and appreciation of quality, cutting edge programming, and demonstrate a commitment to fresh ideas and non-derivative programs
  • A collaborative personality that puts people at ease with the often-difficult development process
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite
  • The ideal candidate will be organized, autonomous, work well under pressure and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
