Key Responsibilities

• Install pipe for storm, water, sanitary main, Hydro, Telus and Shaw
• Grade trenches and culverts, position pipe, seal joints. Use Hand and trenching tools.
• Use instruments including lasers, grade rods and transit levels, hoe packs etc
• Support safety assemblies and use trench shoring systems
• Ensure back-fill and compaction around pipe to ensure proper positioning and support.
• Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Promote a safe work environment and adhere to all safety policies and work procedures.
• Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
• Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a minimum of 1-2 years prior pipelaying experience
• Knowledge of and experience with installing pipe of various sizes and materials
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings is an asset
• Possess strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Willing to do all training and certification requirements for WCB
• First aid, confined space, traffic control and fall protection training is an asset
• Open to learning new skills and training
• Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada and have strong English communication skills.
• Good communication abilities, able to work with a variety of individuals
• Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
