Equipment Operator
Work Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Wage: $24-$26 based on experience
Location: 7215 Wellington Rd 86, Wallenstein ON
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM -3:30PM

We are currently looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join our growing team. This person will assist us in processing large timbers, used in our playground structures. This includes the operation and daily maintenance of the sawmill, and assisting our yard crew prepare project kits. We offer comprehensive training on equipment and tools and welcome team members who are looking to grow their skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate of sawmill to process logs according to production goals and quality standards
  • Perform basic maintenance on machinery, such as swapping blades, lubrication, cleaning, and inspection, and report more significant maintenance needs
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and identify and mitigate potential workplace hazards
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other personnel to ensure efficient workflow and a positive team environment
  • Monitor the flow of materials through the mill, identify and resolve any issues or blockages, and ensure the quality of the finished lumber
  • Troubleshoot minor operational problems with equipment and make necessary adjustments to maintain production

Ideal candidates:

  • Have experience operating large machinery like a sawmill or worked in a wood processing role
  • Proven ability to operate specific types of equipment relevant to the position
  • Solid understanding or willingness to learn lumber grading rules and quality standards, with attention to detail and quality
  • Experience with basic equipment setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices; must be organized and reliable
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Are excited to work with large timbers
  • Are motivated to improve processes and grow skills

Job Requirements

  • must conduct respiratory fit testing in order to wear appropriate PPE on the job
  • use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing Earthscape provides
  • have reliable transportation to our site in Wallenstein
  • undergo safety training on safe work practices
  • wear employer-provided uniform including a high visibility t-shirt.

Schedule:

  • 40-50 hrs week
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
  • Overtime
