Position Overview:

Penny Appeal Canada is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and committed candidates to join our Marketing & Communications team as a Junior Graphic Designer & Video Editor.

This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for design. Working closely with the OGN (Orange Grove Network) team,the successful candidate will support the creation of high-quality graphic and video content to amplify our humanitarian mission, promote events, and engage diverse audiences across social media and donor platforms.

While this is an entry-level role, we welcome applicants with foundational skills in graphic design or video editing, and a willingness to learn and contribute creatively.

Responsibilities:

Graphic Design Tasks

  • Design branded graphics for social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
  • Create visual assets for donor outreach such as pitch decks, one-pagers, and email headers
  • Develop event materials including posters, banners, invitations, and thank-you cards
  • Ensure brand consistency across all OGN materials and communications
  • Assist in the creation of promotional merchandise designs (e.g., tote bags, apparel)

Video Editing Tasks

  • Edit short-form video content for social media, donor updates, and event recaps
  • Add music, captions, transitions, and branding elements to enhance video quality
  • Rework raw video footage into polished clips suitable for different platforms (Reels, YouTube)
  • Organize and archive media assets for internal use and future reference

Social Media & Content Support

  • Assist with storyboarding and designing visual content for campaigns and scheduled posts
  • Design static and carousel posts tailored for each platform
  • Support influencer/partner content by editing or formatting video and graphic assets
  • Keep up with current trends in digital design, including transitions and typography

Team Collaboration

  • Join weekly creative check-ins with the OGN team
  • Coordinate with marketing and fundraising colleagues to deliver design needs
  • Respond to internal requests in a timely manner and iterate based on feedback


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Media Production, or a related field
  • Basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.)
  • Strong creative and visual communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
  • Interest in humanitarian and charitable work is an asset
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple design requests and timelines
  • Must be between the ages of 1530 at the start of the employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • International students are not eligible
