Program Overview – Woodgreen's Eviction Prevention Program (WEPP)
WoodGreen's Eviction Prevention Program (WEPP) is a pilot program which focuses on eviction prevention for tenants within the WoodGreen Housing Community Housing Inc. portfolio who are not attached to other case management support.
Position Overview
The position provides mobile, rapid eviction prevention services to vulnerable households within the WoodGreen Housing portfolio. The WEPP worker provides assessments, referrals, creates a client centered action plan and provides other supports as needed. In consultation with the Housing Team, the WEPP worker will liaise with the Housing Team and relevant support services, coordinate mediation and conflict resolution as appropriate.
If an eviction is prevented, the WEPP worker will provide short-term housing stabilization support. This position works as part of the Housing Access Team and works to support the Eviction Prevention policy within WoodGreen Community Housing Inc.
What You Will Do
  • Deliver targeted eviction prevention support within independent living communities lacking current access to such resources, to aid in the pilot program.
  • Work with households requiring eviction prevention support to maintain housing through assessment, referral, mediation coordination, education and planning.
  • Create client centered, individualized action plans with clear steps to intervene in the eviction.
  • Provide a maximum of three months support to tenant and landlord following a successful eviction prevention.
  • Provide education on landlord and tenant rights, coordinate mediation services and provide referrals to legal services and financial resources.
  • Provide information, referrals and advocacy in the following areas: income, shelter, food, clothing, health and personal needs.
  • Work with supporting departments to implement and maintain eviction prevention strategies.
  • Liase with Community support services (ODSP, OW, etc.) and community partners to ensure eviction prevention objectives are met.
  • Accompany and support clients to community appointments and programs, as applicable.
  • Conduct outreach to identify and engage with individuals and families at risk of eviction.
  • Act as a dedicated eviction prevention resource, working with the housing team, to increase tenant trust and engagement.
  • Provide short-term case management, to support tenants in stabilizing after eviction risk has been mitigated.
  • Navigate and liaise with key services including ODSP (for HSF), the Toronto Rent Bank, and other relevant eviction prevention programs.
  • Offer service navigation and advocacy for tenants to connect them with appropriate financial, legal, and social supports.
  • Contribute to evaluation efforts by supporting the collection of data tied to specific success metrics of the pilot program.
  • Inform future program scaling by participating in assessments to determine the effectiveness and replicability of the eviction prevention model.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in social services, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in social services with supporting individuals who have history of street involvement and/or individuals with low income.
  • Strong understanding and experience working with tenants in an eviction prevention capacity.
  • Case management experience with individuals of low, moderate and high acuity.
  • Thorough knowledge and skills in the use of community resources.
  • Understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act, the Housing Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

  • Applied computer skills (MS word, Excel, databases and Internet).
  • Experience in outreach, public presentations and workshops.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, flexibility and contribute to the effective functioning of a team.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow policies, procedures and adherence to legislation.
