Position: Product Lead, Waterslide Engineering
Department: Waterslide Engineering
Shift: Full time, 40 hours a week
Location: Richmond, B.C
Reports to: Lead, Waterslide Engineering

Purpose:

The Product Lead works in a product-focused environment, leading a cross-functional core team from Manufacturing Release (Stage 4) through Commercialization (Stage 5) for various new products. The Product Lead will inherit technical product authority within Stage 4, quickly becoming a subject matter expert, and continually striving to acquire a deep understanding of their respective products. The Product Lead, supported by their core team, will provide product support and actively seek improvement opportunities for WhiteWater products, ensuring they are robust, reliable, and cost effective. Product Leads will provide internal and external technical support for their respective products to ensure product issues are captured, contained, and adequately resolved. While Product Leads will largely focus on supporting Stage 5 products, Product Leads will also participate in early development stages, helping to foster an environment of knowledge sharing, and aiding the future transition of the product. The Product Lead will have a strong background in design and manufacturing, as well as a proven ability to lead people and communicate across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical authority and subject matter expert for respective Stage 4 & 5 products, serving as the primary point of contact for respective products.
  • Lead a cross-functional core team through Manufacturing Release (Stage 4), Commercialization (Stage 5) and ultimately to End of Life (Stage 6).
  • Provide technical product support for respective Stage 4 & 5 products, including installation and commissioning support, incident responses, NCRs, and G8Ds.
  • Investigate and implement cost reduction measures, including ECR/ECOs and the execution of WhiteWaters Legacy Program.
  • Oversee the creation of new or custom waterslide parts, design enhancements such as nozzles, injectors, dewatering, etc. in accordance with WhiteWaters Stage Gate process.
  • Provide technical direction and support to team members of various disciplines.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of engineering documentation in accordance with WhiteWaters Stage Gate process.
  • Review and approve calculations, designs, and design documentation.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews to evaluate risks, costs, and fulfilment of requirements.
  • Lead and participate in testing and evaluation of products and features.
  • Participate in early development stage activities to foster an environment of knowledge sharing and aid the future transition of the product.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to foster a team-based approach.
  • Be accountable and responsible for the teams ability to achieve set metrics. Track and report progress relating to product programs, including preparing and maintaining schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum education requirement - Engineering degree from a Canadian university or foreign equivalent, or Technical diploma.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.) or US (P.E.) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in product design and/or manufacturing environment; including experience with design, fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Experience and technical competence in a range of engineering skills and fields.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving complex mechanical systems.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience.
  • Project management experience; including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and planning.
  • Experience with composite materials would be an asset.
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of complex mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Experience with industry accepted risk assessment techniques, including FMEA, is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and Product Data/Lifecycle Management systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Ability to travel globally on short-term basis for periods up to two weeks at a time (up to 20% per year).
  • Must be able to travel globally without restrictions.
