Director of Development

Ruth and Naomis Mission is a Christian faith-based organization that has been serving the Chilliwack community for over 20 years. Our mission is to transform the lives of those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction through the love of God. We provide essential services, including meals, shelter, and recovery programs, with the unwavering commitment to walk alongside individuals in their journey of recovery.

We are seeking a Director of Development to lead and advance the strategic management of donor engagement, partnerships, and funding streams. This senior leadership role is critical to ensuring the financial sustainability and continued impact of Ruth and Naomis Mission.

Position Overview

As the Director of Development, you will work closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, government partners, and the community. You will spearhead fundraising campaigns, manage grants and proposals, and lead a high-performing development team. Your efforts will directly contribute to the expansion of our mission and vision, ensuring long-term growth and transformation within our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Mission-Driven Leadership & Culture: Align all development strategies with Ruth and Naomis Mission, fostering a Christ-centered culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Expanded Partnerships: Develop relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, and government agencies to increase organizational reach and influence.
• New Funding Opportunities: Identify and secure innovative funding sources, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
• Grant & Proposal Development: Oversee the preparation and submission of compelling grant applications and proposals.
• Donor Engagement & Revenue Growth: Implement strategies to expand donor contributions and ensure long-term donor retention.
• Strategic Fundraising Campaigns: Lead the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives and events to exceed revenue targets.
• Transparency & Reporting: Maintain clear, accurate, and timely reporting on fundraising progress and donor impact.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in communications, nonprofit management, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in fundraising, development, or donor relations with a proven track record of securing grants and managing campaigns.
• Skills: Strong communication, strategic thinking, and project management skills. Proficiency in donor databases and fundraising software is required.
• Personal Attributes: A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out Christian faith in alignment with the organizations values. Integrity, humility, and a passion for community impact are essential.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive salary between $85,000 and $100,000 annually.
• Enrollment in RRSP matching program and extended health benefits after the probationary period.

Work Environment

• Full-time, in-office role with standard office hours (Monday Friday, 8 am 4 pm).
• Occasional travel required between locations in Chilliwack and for events or external meetings.
