CNC Lathe Machinist / Setup Technician
Location: Guelph, ON N1K 1B5
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Lathe Machinist with strong setup and operational experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes to produce precision metal parts and components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision parts according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters for efficient production.
- Perform initial part inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure part conformance.
- Monitor the machining process and make real-time corrections to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Read and interpret complex technical drawings and use measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Maintain and verify machine calibration and troubleshoot any equipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the machining process and for facility
- Collaborate with engineers and production team to optimize setup procedures and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate documentation of setup sheets, production logs, program updates and quality records.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and comply with maintenance program
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on CNC lathe experience, including full setup and production.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
- Familiarity with G-code and CNC program editing is preferred.
- Experience working with tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail and accuracy

- Available for day and evening shifts as required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, or similar CNC control an asset
Experience with both custom, prototype and short-run to long-run production preferred
