Commodity Procurement & Contract Coordinator (12 Month Contract)Parrish & Heimbecker Join our team that shares your Passion & Heart for Canadian agriculture! Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Commodity Procurement & Contract Coordinator for our Milling division based in Cambridge, ON.
Please note this is a 12-Month ContractP&H MillingP&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.
From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.Your RoleThe Commodity Procurement & Contract Coordinator plays a key role in managing wheat procurement, futures account reconciliation, and contract maintenance. This position ensures accurate and timely supply of commodity quotes and fills to the Sales department, helping to maintain balanced market positions. Responsibilities include overseeing grain contract entry and maintenance, processing invoices, and reporting mill wheat usage. Additionally, the role supports month-end reporting and assists Commodity and Material Coordinators with procurement-related activities.Day to Day
  • Procure various classes of wheat to maintain a balanced grain position
  • Promptly and accurately supply quotes and fills to the sales department based off of live commodity markets
  • Maintain accurate records relating to grain contracts
  • Daily reconciliation of our futures account
  • Grain contract entry/maintenance, grain receipt reporting, processing grain & related invoices
  • Flour sales contract entry/maintenance
  • Weekly reporting of mill wheat usage
  • Support mill receivers in troubleshooting receiving issues
  • Month-end support and reporting
  • Assist in any other procurement related activities & projects, as required
Required Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary degree in business, finance or agriculture background is an asset
  • Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets
  • Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts production and customer order fulfilment
  • An extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
