We are seeking a skilled and proactive PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high performance, availability, and security of our database systems, and will work closely with IT Development team to support product development and scalability.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems in production and development environments.
• Monitor database performance and implement changes to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Create and manage database objects such as schemas, tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures.
• Perform regular database backups and recovery testing; ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place.
• Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
• Conduct performance tuning, optimization, and query analysis.
• Automate routine DBA tasks using tools and scripts.
• Collaborate with software engineers to design database schemas and support deployment pipelines.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across distributed systems.
• Stay up to date with PostgreSQL updates and apply patches as required.

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment (3+ years preferred).
• Strong understanding of database architecture, replication, and high-availability setups.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing performance.
• Experience with backup/recovery tools (e.g., pgBackRest, Barman).
• Knowledge of database monitoring tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, Prometheus + Grafana).
• Familiarity with cloud-based deployments (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, etc.).
• Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems and shell scripting.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• PostgreSQL certification (e.g., EDB Certified PostgreSQL DBA) is a plus.
• Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, TimescaleDB).
• Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience with other RDBMS or NoSQL databases.
