Job Summary:
Principle Projects Ltd. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Superintendent to join our team. The Superintendent will play a key role in organizing project resources, managing crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards across various locations. This role involves administrative tasks, planning, scheduling, and fostering positive employee relations while supporting the Operations Manager and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OHS regulations and company policies. Conduct hazard assessments, lead safety meetings, manage incident reporting and investigations, and ensure crew safety training needs are met.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop and execute project plans and schedules, translating work requirements into prioritized tasks for the crew to meet production goals. Read and interpret blueprints.
- Leadership & Supervision: Coordinate and supervise crews, assign tasks, assess competency, and provide coaching and mentorship, particularly to Foremen. Manage day-to-day employee relations, resolve issues, and maintain work standards and morale.
- Quality Control: Oversee work execution to ensure adherence to job specifications, plans, and quality standards. Conduct inspections and coordinate the resolution of deficiencies.
- Administration: Maintain site reports (material receiving, quality documentation, safety records), manage RFIs and Change Orders, report work progress, monitor attendance, and handle personnel actions as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a competent Foreman in construction, familiar with various trades.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate crews.
- Strong understanding of OHS regulations and commitment to safety excellence.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project plans.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Required Certification:
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS 2020) or equivalent orientation (e.g., CSO).
- Additional certifications considered strong assets or potentially required depending on site:
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE)
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED
- H2S Alive
- Confined Space Entry & Monitor
- Half Mask Fit Testing
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Other relevant or site-specific tickets.

Work Conditions:
- Standard work week is 44 hours, with potential for overtime (compensated at 1.5x rate for pre-approved hours).
- Ability to work different shifts and long hours (8-12 hours) when necessary.
- Physically demanding role requiring climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), kneeling, balancing, walking, stooping, crouching, crawling, and reaching.

- Site Requirements: Must be able to meet all client site access requirements, which may include specific safety protocols, background checks, or adherence to client policies.
