We are currently hiring for a Corporate Desktop Publishing to work for our client in Toronto, Ontario. This is not a creative role.
Shift: Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm
Pay: $20.65
Responsibilities:

  • Our primary focus is Desktop Publishing, layout, text formatting and brand management.
  • Create highly accurate brand-compliant and visually compelling cross-channel design solutions, from brief to exact industry standards for print.
  • Attend client meetings and being comfortable communicating design insight and rationale.
  • Stay current with industry trends and design innovation, proactively conduct market research, and regularly suggest innovative ideas.
  • Enhance all designs to meet WCAG 2.0 (ADA) accessibility standards.
  • As a steward of the client's brand, provide brand guidance to maintain a consistent look and feel.
  • Advise the client on the best solutions to their communication needs. Answer queries from clients -- either handling these or (where appropriate) escalating to more senior members of team.
  • Work proactively under own initiative and collaboratively with other members of a design team, providing input whenever possible.
  • Be aware of budgets and deadlines for jobs and escalate proactively and appropriately if there is a danger of going overestimate.
  • Ensure all quality control policies are adhered to, while constantly looking for ways to implement process improvements.
  • Other duties as requested by the senior creative/direct report.
  • Creating mechanical layouts (a complete digital file or combination of files) from original design or “compositions.” Utilizing incomplete files, images, and raw design layouts.
    • Design: Re-designing layouts from existing compositions.
    • Maintaining brand integrity for customer.
    • Ensuring the use of proper standards and industry best practices.
    • Collaborating with internal and external parties to ensure designs are delivered on requirements.
    • Ensures all projects (including approvals) are properly documented and stored.
    • Perform other related activities as determined by management.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years graphic design/new media design/information design diploma/degree from recognized institution
  • Minimum 2-4 years graphic design experience in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
  • Experience in a corporate environment and using Word and PPT to create and format documents is required.
  • Experience in Adobe Suite, including Acrobat Pro is a must.
  • The ability to build client relationships and a focus on superior customer service is a key requirement of all applicants.
