The Company

Creating, producing, and distributing distinctive factual and scripted programming, the Cineflix Media group includes Cineflix Productions, Cineflix Rights, Cineflix Studios, Buccaneer Media, Connect3 Media, Husk Media, Shiny Screens Entertainment, and a hub of producers from the US, UK, and Canada with whom we share strategic partnerships through joint ventures, first-look deals, and co-productions. With a catalogue of more than 5,500 hours of select programming across a wide range of genres, Cineflix is behind some of TVs most popular and long-running shows.

The Role

Cineflix Media is currently looking for a Manager, Business and Legal Affairs. Based in our Toronto office, on a hybrid schedule, this is a contract position for approximately 12 months.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Global Business and Legal Affairs (the EVP), the Manager, Business & Legal Affairs, works directly with external stakeholders and Cineflixs cross-functional teams, including finance, rights management and marketing, to ensure seamless business and legal functions that support strategic business objectives from drafting to payment processing.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project and Contract Drafting and Management (negotiate, draft and review a variety of legal documents, guild paperwork, coordinate execution of agreements etc.)
  • BLA Systems and Processes (maintain digital file repository, standard contract templates, and distribution lists and assist with the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to promote legal compliance and efficient business practices)
  • Interdepartmental coordination (contract summaries, tracking deadlines, questions)
  • Other administrative, drafting and research tasks as needed, as directed by the EVP

Skills and Qualifications

  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, administrative and drafting skills, attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in entertainment industry practices and trends, familiarity with guilds and tax credits
