This summer student opportunity is available within the Good Shepherd - Administration Department

How You Will Make an Impact

• Demonstrate the Mission, Vision and Values of good Shepherd while working in the Corporate Human Resources Department.
• Collaborate as part of a dynamic HR Team supporting Good Shepherd Centres and Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes.
• Assist with recruitment activities and onboarding processes.
• Support employee relations and communication initiatives
• Help coordinate training sessions and performance management processes.
• Promote and assist with best practices in Health and Safety.
• Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team in a busy office environment.
• Gain hands-on experience across key HR functions to build professional skills.
• Perform other HR related duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

• Working towards Human Resources Management Degree or Diploma
• Experience with Employment Law requirements
• Intermediate level Excel and Microsoft Word
• Works well in a team setting and independently
• Must provide a valid current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English is an asset
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job:

This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.

• Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
• As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
  • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
  • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
