About our organization:

With opportunities for employee training, wellness programs and professional development the City of Prince George offers a safe and supportive workplace in which to serve our community.

About the opportunity:

You will be responsible for ensuring that the specialized equipment on our fleet of RCMP vehicles-such as police telecommunications equipment, video cameras, radar systems, emergency lighting, gun racks, and prisoner shields-is installed and maintained to meet the highest quality standards. Additionally, you will conduct regular preventive maintenance and perform minor bodywork, as well as troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems on various automotive fleet vehicles and small equipment.

About your background:

As a seasoned, certified mechanic, you have at least four years of recent experience in electronic and computer data analysis for troubleshooting, tune-ups, and adjustments. Working with specialized electronic equipment is a key aspect of this role, so you possess extensive experience with automotive electrical systems and the installation of electronic equipment. You are independent, self-motivated, and capable of working from verbal instructions, specifications, diagrams, and sketches. Your strong interpersonal skills enable you to build cooperative working relationships with City employees, RCMP members, and the general public. As a condition of employment, you must obtain and maintain a clear RCMP Reliability Status. Additionally, a valid Class 5 driver's license (or an equivalent from another province) is required.

Why you will love working for our Roads & Fleet team at the City of Prince George:

  • Join a collaborative team dedicated to safe work practices and quality workmanship.
  • Enjoy a competitive wage of $45.32 per hour plus excellent benefits and pension.
