Senior Project Accountant

Our client is a real estate developer based in North York with a portfolio of development and construction projects across the Greater Toronto Area. They are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support financial operations across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate development projects

• Prepare monthly financial reports, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

• Track and record project revenues, management fees, and interest

• Prepare monthly construction draws and coordinate with cost consultants and lenders

• Maintain and update project budgets, change orders, and forecasts in the accounting system

• Work with project teams to review invoices, purchase orders, and perform variance analysis

• Reconcile bank and trust accounts and manage project distributions and contributions

• Prepare and submit compliance reporting to lenders, government bodies, and joint venture partners

• Ensure compliance with ASPE or IFRS and internal accounting policies

Requirements

• CPA designation (required)

• 4 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in real estate development or construction

• Strong understanding of full-cycle project accounting and financial reporting

• Proficient with accounting systems (experience with Yardi, Jonas, or similar is an asset)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across departments
