We are looking for an experienced and proactive Warehouse Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our warehouse and materials departments. This role is responsible for supervising team members across receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping, while also supporting planning and procurement to ensure timely availability of materials for production. The Warehouse Supervisor plays a critical role in optimizing space, driving efficiency, and implementing Lean practices to support overall business goals and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all warehouse activities including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain and Procurement teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and workflow to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for inventory, transactions, and shipments; ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Implement and maintain inventory control strategies to reduce carrying costs, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate stock levels.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and root cause analysis on variances.
- Generate and analyze KPIs and reports to monitor team performance, material movement, and warehouse efficiency.
- Act as a Lean champion, identifying and implementing process improvements such as pull systems to reduce waste and enhance throughput.
- Analyze labor and resource needs to reduce overtime and maintain productivity without compromising service levels.
- Ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards are met; promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate material flow, support production needs, and meet customer order fulfillment timelines.
- Stay up-to-date with laws and regulations related to materials handling, transportation, and warehouse safety.
- Coach, mentor, and train warehouse staff to build a high-performing team; conduct regular performance reviews and address skill gap.
- Develop and maintain warehouse contingency plans to support business continuity in the event of disruptions (e.g., supply chain delays, equipment failure, natural disasters).
- Assist in the development and management of the warehouse budget, including labor, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure that warehouse procedures align with customer and regulatory requirements, including material traceability, batch control, and shelf-life management where applicable.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized records and facilitating auditor access to required documentation.
Qualifications:
- A related Technical or University degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse or materials management, with at least 3 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and develop employees.
- Solid understanding of inventory control systems, ERP/WMS software, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Forklift certification
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
