Introduction

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Manager of Accounting & Treasury is an integral member of the financial team, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department of the company. The Manager of Accounting & Treasury will lead the monthly and annual close processes, manage internal controls, and guide the team to maintain high standards in financial practices, in compliance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (APSE) for upper management and shareholders.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Manager of Accounting & Treasury is responsible for many important elements within the organization. The main duties and responsibilities that are expected of the Manager of Accounting & Treasury on a daily basis include:
- Oversee all general ledger functions and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Lead and manage the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting.
- Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial reports are complete and accurate.
- Develop and maintain internal control policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide the necessary documentation and support.
- Assist the Financial Controller and CFO in preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports for management and the board.
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems and tools, including implementation of new technologies.
- Monitor compliance with tax regulations and coordinate tax filings with the Financial Controller and CFO, as well as external tax advisors.
- Support strategic financial planning and decision-making through analysis and reporting.
- Provide mentorship, training, and career development for the accounting team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA is an asset.
- Minimum 57 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or Manager of Accounting & Treasury role.
- Strong technical knowledge of ASPE.
- Experience with Power BI and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Experience
The successful candidate will have experience in the fields of accounting, finance, or business administration.
Education & Training
The successful Manager of Accounting & Treasury candidate will have a bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related discipline. The successful Manager of Accounting & Treasury candidate should also hold an accounting designation such as a Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified General Accountant (CGA). A masters degree with a concentration in finance or an MBA is also a desirable certification for the successful candidate.
