Who We Are
The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits.
Who You Are
The Front Desk Administrator will be the first point of contact for visitors, families, and staff, providing administrative support and ensuring smooth office operations in a childrens services environment. This position requires strong organizational skills, a friendly and professional demeanor, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.
This position is based in Fort McMurray, AB.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist families, visitors, and children with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about services.
- Schedule and confirm appointments for families and staff.
- Maintain and manage the front desk area to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Manage office correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail.
- Organize and maintain filing systems for childrens records and other documentation in compliance with Provincial requirements, privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist in preparing materials and documents for staff meetings, appointments, and services.
- Enter and maintain data in various databases and spreadsheets.
- Keep the front desk area organized, clean, and secure at all times.
- Assist with office supply inventory and order materials as needed.
- Handle basic office tasks such as photocopying, faxing, and filing.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma is required.
- Business administration certificate preferred.
- Minimum 1-year of experience in an administrative role.
- Experience working knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Compassionate and empathetic, with a strong understanding of the needs and sensitivities of children and families
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams and virtual meeting platforms.
- Possess exceptional judgement and always maintain high confidentiality in all interactions.
- Must be reliable and be prepared to work irregular hours depending on job demands.
- Must sign Oath of Confidentiality form.
