Child and Youth Worker

8 Weeks Contract(35 Hours per week)

Start Date- June, 2025

South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre (SEOCHC) is a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides a range of multi-disciplinary services to clients, including primary care, health promotion, social services, community and resource development, home support, and advocacy to address the social determinants of health. SEOCHC particularly responds to persons who face barriers to accessing health and social services and who live in Southeast Ottawa. Our services and programs are designed to meet the needs of our community.

Job Summary

The Child and Youth Workers will plan and lead outdoor recreational activities for children and youth aged 617. The role requires high energy, strong leadership skills, and the ability to engage small groups in cooperative and team-building activities in a park setting. Staff will also create fun, youth-friendly promotional materials and digital content aimed at youth aged 1317. Flexibility, adaptability, and independent work are essential, along with the ability to develop structured program schedules and maintain regular communication with supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or completed a degree/certificate in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year experience working with children aged 614 in recreational or camp settings, plus experience with social media content creation and strategy.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver structured community-based programs, including outreach and participant recruitment.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills; able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural, and high-risk communities.
  • Knowledge of current child and youth issues and ability to collaborate with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Criminal Record Check required; internet access essential; additional languages (French, Somali, Arabic, Spanish) are an asset.

SALARY: $19.37/ hour
