JOB TITLE:PAR Program Facilitator (Part-time/Relief)
PROGRAM: Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program
REPORTS TO: Adult Services Manager
The John Howard Society of York Region is a non-profit, charitable organization serving residents of the York Region. The organization works with individuals involved in any stage of criminal justice involvement and their families.
The function of this position is to facilitate sessions for the PAR Program. Facilitation will be delivered virtually, over the phone and in person.
The PAR Program is a psycho-educational program provided to individuals 18+ who have been referred due to their involvement with intimate partner violence. The program has two primary goals: to enhance safety and to increase accountability.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Deliver programming to clients participating in the PAR Program via group and one-on-one sessions
Facilitate daytime, evening, and weekend program sessions, as required, virtually, over the phone, and at various locations in the community
Prepare and develop materials for group sessions
Complete all required reports and training, as directed by the supervisor
Ensure that services delivered are efficient and effective through evaluation techniques
Provide referrals to community resources for client support, when required
Adhere to the directives and program standards
Maintain and respect professional boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times
Complete program reports when required
Attend all staff and team meetings
Attend committee meetings, when required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mandatory experience in group and one-on-one facilitation
- Must have extensive knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
- Lived experience is an asset
Post-secondary degree in a relevant Human Services field, e.g. Social Work, Criminology, Psychology, Social Services or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Knowledge regarding intimate partner violence, child abuse, and the dynamics of violence and abuse
Able to articulate an analysis of intimate partner violence as it relates to gender roles, socialization, the dynamics of power and control, and the effects of abuse
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs- The ability to speak multiple languages is an asset
Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend hours
