This position presents an exciting opportunity for career growth, with the potential to advance to Senior Design Lead or specialize as a P3 (Public-Private Partnership) Design Lead in the future. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process for smaller-scale institutional and civic architecture projects and renovations from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to understand project requirements, design goals, and user needs.
- Generate creative design concepts and lead design charrettes to explore innovative solutions for each project.
- Oversee the development of design proposals, presentations, and visualizations to effectively communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure that design solutions are aligned with project budgets, timelines, and scope while adhering to high-quality design standards.
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, engineers, and consultants to integrate multiple disciplines into cohesive design solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior design team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in institutional and civic architecture.
- Collaborate with the Senior Design Lead and Principal Architects to develop design strategies for projects and overall design vision for the practice.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing, client presentations, and cultivating client relationships.
- Demonstrate a commitment to sustainable design principles and explore opportunities to incorporate green building strategies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on institutional and civic projects in Canada.
- Proven experience leading and managing the design process for smaller projects and renovations.
- A diverse portfolio showcasing successful completion of smaller-scale institutional and civic projects.
- Proficiency in design software and visualization tools relevant to the industry.
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to institutional and civic architecture.
- Leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and inspire design teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating design concepts effectively.
- A passion for design excellence and a commitment to professional growth.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated interest in advancing to Senior Design Lead or specializing as a P3 Design Lead.
