POSITION:
Instructional Developer
DEPARTMENT: Employment, Language, and Social Enterprise
DUTIES may include:
- Be familiar with MOSAICS vision, mission, values, strategic plan, and integrated client service delivery approach, program and/or project proposals and contracts, and your role in achieving the goals and contractual outcomes of the department
- Be familiar with the English Language Program contracts and operations policies, and understand their role in achieving the stated goals and contractual outcomes, through either direct or indirect means
Instructional Leadership Team
- As a member of the Convener Leadership Team, participate in the development of appropriate systems, procedures, and standards, and maintain and implement them
- Chair sector working group meetings as required
- Assist Manager in the preparation of Program Reports and Program Funding Proposals
- In collaboration with the Convener Manager: (a) identify areas for sector collaboration, and work to develop and improve sector resources; (b) identify common needs for professional development across the sector, and plan and facilitate sector working group sessions related to these needs
- With the Manager, organize and implement professional development opportunities
- Oversee program-monitoring activities as outlined in the language programs work plan and as directed by the Manager
- Help to identify and respond to emerging program issues and work closely with the Manager in planning solutions
Instructional Support
- Assist the Manager in the hiring and training of language facilitators
- Stay up-to-date and current on instructional theory and methodology, including the use of technology
- Support the ongoing instructor training courses by keeping up to date with the LINC instructor training on MOODLE and by following up and supporting instructor students in accessing the course(s)
- Support in responding to client issues and trends, and work closely with the Manager in planning solutions
- Collaborate and coordinate on program delivery and curriculum planning with the Convener Manager.
- Plan and coordinate the scheduling of guest speakers and workshops for sector professional development opportunities.
- In consultation with sector stakeholders, purchase instructional resources and equipment, and organize and maintain the Resource Library, including books and online resources within the learning management system and MS Teams.
- In consultation with LINC Training facilitators and the Manager, organize instructional resources and equipment and organize and maintain online curriculum.
- Plan and coordinate scheduling for in-person and online program events in collaboration with the Convener manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of language acquisition and immigrant settlement issues;
- working knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA
- A demonstrated understanding of EDI concepts and frameworks.
- Standard office programs including Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems including Moodle
- Standard First Aid Certificate
- Working knowledge of the CLBs (Canadian Language Benchmarks) and PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) is required
- Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Informed Practice training is an asset
Education/certifications:
- University undergraduate degree plus certificate or equivalent in Teaching ESL
- University degree in a relevant field (i.e., Adult Education, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Inclusion Studies) Masters degree or equivalent is preferred
- CLB Bootcamp certificate or equivalent training is required
- Completion of Orientation to the ESL for Adult Literacy Learners offered through the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks is required https://learning.language.ca/

COMPENSATION: $31.26 - $34.56 per hour
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Candidates must be able to commute to the Burnaby Language and or Surrey Language Centre and or Vancouver Language Centres.
HOURS: Full-time, fixed-term (35 hours per week); contract ends March 31, 2026
