Job Summary:
The Associate Designer will be a vital member of the Product Development team, working along side the Product Developers and collaborating closely with the Art Team and the Production Team. The role will include assisting in the development of Mad Engine product from initial ideation to final production.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting the development team in creating licensed and private label apparel for wholesale distribution.
- Assist with seasonal development research including identifying market trends, fabric/print innovations, license opportunities and colour forecasts.
- Create technically accurate garment sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
- Work with both the internal PLM system, Adobe CS & Microsoft Office to create preliminary tech pack s and make updates as necessary.
- Attend development fittings, assisting both the production team and the development team by taking fit notes, pictures and organizing samples when necessary.
- Assist the PD team when requesting new fabric development, print strike offs and counter samples, so the Buyers have the required samples to show during meetings.
- Communicate with the factories on a regular basis to track and organize all required proto samples and strike offs.
- Helping to create and maintain a standardized library of garment sketches.
- Maintain the fabric, trim and print technique library and reach out to makers to request new swatches, trim and print examples when necessary.
- Organize and maintain the sample library including keeping a record of all original and bought samples.
- Assist with additional miscellaneous tasked as needed.
- Complete work in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field highly preferred.
- Must have 1-2 years of experience in the fashion industry.
- Passion for product design and graphic apparel, with a desire to bring innovation and excitement to each new project.
- Must understand fabrications.
- Tech Pack experience is essential.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and PLM.
- Must understand garment construction, fabrications, colour selection, print techniques and garment fit.
- Pattern making experience is an asset.
- Repeat AOP Print Pattern making experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with over-seas manufacturing is extremely beneficial.
- Must have a team-oriented attitude and an eagerness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and keen sense of urgency – we work in a fast-paced environment and those skills are essential.
