Summary of Position

The incumbent is responsible for the high quality 3D CAD product design/drawings to internal and external customers on time and within budget. The incumbent will draft/design pressure vessels, piping and structural components, and make modifications to existing designs using standard drafting practices and techniques, i.e. Inventor, Solidworks and AutoCAD.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Prepare drawings of systems and equipment for fabrication as per the Sales order requirements and in accordance with applicable client specifications, recognized codes, standards, and recommended practices, and Eco-Tec procedures and standards. These drawings include development of layouts, P&ID, assemblies, piping drawings, skid frame and supports drawings, pneumatics, part descriptions and Bills of materials.

2) Draft system designs for components such as:

· pressure vessels (beds, filters, reservoirs, etc.),

· pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, etc.,

· heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, etc.,

· valves (isolation, flow regulation, safety and relief etc.),

· instrument and measurement and control devices.

· Process piping assemblies 3D routing.

3) Prepare additional project documentation as per the Sales order requirements and in accordance with applicable Client specifications, recognized Codes, Standards, Recommended Practices, and Eco-Tec procedures and standards.

4) Ensure excellent accuracy of all design work generated.

5) Utilize knowledge of drafting practices, mathematics, building materials, manufacturing technology.

6) Plan and schedule activities, evaluate best value alternatives, strictly adhere to approved schedule and to budget.

7) Provide extensive support to the Systems Engineering group, Materials and Planning group to facilitate procurement of parts and to the Production group to facilitate the fabrication process.

8) Perform modifications and as-built changes to current project designs as well as to standard drawings and documents.

9) Assist in bid specifications from customers and technical preparations for tendering and proposals.

10) Prepare installation specification for contactors, evaluate their offers, and ensure proper coordination of their activities with the project.

11) Coordinate with other departments to ensure a smooth workflow so that predetermined shipping dates are met, costing is accomplished and customer service problems are resolved in a timely manner.

12) Assist in the development of new products as required and propose and suggest technical and procedural improvements.

13) Visit suppliers and customer's sites for inspections, evaluations, supervision etc.

14) Act as a resource to all departments.

15) Adhere to Eco-Tec's ISO 9001 Quality Procedures and prepare, maintain, and release all quality documentation accordingly.

16) Responsible for ensuring compliance with the company's Workplace H&S rules, policies and procedures at all times.

17) Attend training programs necessary to maintain/upgrade skills.

18) Ability to work overtime as required

19) Perform other related duties as required by the Department Manager.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to:

Interaction with all levels of the organization, and some contact with suppliers, contractors, and customers.

SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

College diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years design experience in a manufacturing environment. 3-D modeling is a must; Solidworks/Inventor & AutoCAD is an asset.

Skills:

· Results oriented, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, flexible, cooperative team player, excellent interpersonal skills

· Good understanding of manufacturing procedures such as welding symbols, cutting/drilling dimensional tolerancing and assembly drawings is an asset.

· Ability to multi-task and strong sense of urgency is a must.

· Part generation, component assembly is a must.

· Experience using Visibility ERP software is considered an asset.

· Proficient computer skills (MS Office), Solidworks/Inventor design and AutoCAD, strong writing, quick learner, independent.

Other:

Overtime will be required; some limited travel.
