Our Client is an established transportationand freight forwarderlocated in Cambridge with convenient proximity and access to the 401.

With a successful track record of satisfied Customers, ongoing growth has created an opportunity for a Logistics Coordinatorto join their winning team.

Position Overview:

The Logistics Coordinator has 2 years experience of full-cycle 'over-the-road' order management (origin to destination) using company equipment assets, Owner Operators and 3rd party Carriers of brokered FTL & LTL loads to domestic and cross-borderdestinations ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.

The role requires a clear understanding of the load lifecycle: order inception, book, rate and dispatching Customer loads, negotiate rates with carriers or brokers, track shipment progress, update customers and manage data and updatingof accurate documentation and expedite billing information on a daily basis.

This role requires a strong, clear communicator with organizedtime management, able to re-prioritize with changing conditions, adapt and execute under pressure with a high sense-of-urgency and a keen, problem-solving mind-set.

Knowledge and familiarity of transportation documents, regulatory requirements, internal and external freight systems, and cross-border geography and logistics is required with aminimumof 2 years previous experience in a similar environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Order Management:
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather order details and requirements.
  • Calculate the most efficient mode of transportation (FTL, LTL, per hundred pound weight) based on shipment characteristics and client preferences.
  • Assess special handling needs and coordinate appropriate arrangements.
  • Rate Negotiation and Sales:
  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and freight providers to optimize cost-effectiveness.
  • Actively seek sales opportunities and promote value-added services to clients.
  • Shipment Coordination:
  • Coordinate freight pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely and reliable transportation.
  • Liaise with carriers and logistics partners to schedule shipments and resolve any operational issues.
  • Track and Trace:
  • Utilize tracking systems to monitor the status and location of shipments in transit.
  • Proactively address any delays or exceptions and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Billing and Documentation:
  • Accurately calculate freight charges based on negotiated rates and shipment details.
  • Prepare billing documentation and ensure timely submission for invoicing.
  • Customer Service:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding shipment inquiries, rate quotes, and service requests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams including sales, operations, and finance to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to streamline processes and optimize efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven experience 2 years in a logistics coordination role within the Transportation, Supply Chain/3PL industry *Asset &Non asset-based*
  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management a definite asset or direct industry experience
  • Strong understanding of freight transportation modes, including FTL, LTL, and specialized handling requirements.
  • Knowledge of 'Transplus' TMS system, Microsoft Office; and ability to use and apply various software systems and tools to assist in finding equipment/freight, rate calculation andorder management of transactional stages
  • Negotiation skills with Carriers to secure competitive rates and drive sales.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Nice to have: fulfillment, 3PL multi-client warehousing and distribution,

In Office Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Compensation:

Comprehensive Benefits Package

Salary Range: $ 55 to $ 60 K annual + O/T after 44 hrs weekly
