Salary: $20.84

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs by Service Canada. As per the funding guidelines from the Canada Summer Jobs Program, this job opportunity is available to candidates who must be between 15 and 30 years of age inclusive at the start of employment. Priority will be given to candidates facing barriers to getting a first job, specifically: youth with disabilities, black and other racialized youth, Indigenous youth, and 2SLGBTQI+ youth.

Kinsight is a Non-Profit Organization that operates in the Tri-Cities and New Westminster. From infants to seniors, we serve over 2,000 families with children, youth and adults each year. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Activity Worker will work as part of a team with Community Inclusion staff to plan, design and carry out leisure, adult learning and community contribution activities for adults and seniors with developmental disabilities during the summer. The Activity Worker will seek and implement input from the people served to develop programs and activities, and encourage them to explore a range of activities and to try new things in accordance with their wishes and preferences. The Activity worker will facilitate adults with disabilities to form and strengthen connections to peers and community and modeling and practicing the principals of community inclusion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Courses in Human and Social Services such as: Classroom and Community Support (CCSW); Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work.
  • Experience with adults with developmental disabilities, recognizing and respecting peoples diversity, individual differences and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement individual and group recreation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Experience working with groups and understanding the dynamics of groups.
  • Good interpersonal skills

LOCATION:

  • Port Coquitlam and surrounding communities

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to obtain a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate

HOURS OF WORK/TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/WAGE:

  • June 23, 2025 - August 29, 2025
  • 35 hours/week - Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • $20.84/hour
