310T Mechanics and apprentices Location: Pickering and North HumberlandPay: $45.09/ hour for licensed 310T's Shift: Afternoon shift 2:00 pm – 12:00 amEmployment Type: Full-time, PermanentPosition Overview:The 310T Truck Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of a fleet of waste management trucks. This role requires a strong technical background and experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on a variety of trucks, including diagnostics, engine repairs, and overhauls
  • Inspect, test, and repair brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other vital parts to ensure that they are in proper working condition.
  • Conduct diagnostics on vehicles to identify problems and execute necessary repairs.
  • Repair and adjust hydraulic systems, suspension components, and air brakes.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of engines, transmissions, and other components of the fleet.
  • Complete work orders accurately and report any additional repairs needed.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot vehicle issues.
  • Keep a clean and organized workspace to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations and other local guidelines.
  • Communicate with supervisors and operators regarding vehicle issues and the status of repairs.
  • Conduct on-road service calls within Durham region as required
Qualifications:
  • Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician License or a 3rd and 4th year apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a licensed 310T mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform major repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment:
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, as needed.
