- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on a variety of trucks, including diagnostics, engine repairs, and overhauls
- Inspect, test, and repair brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other vital parts to ensure that they are in proper working condition.
- Conduct diagnostics on vehicles to identify problems and execute necessary repairs.
- Repair and adjust hydraulic systems, suspension components, and air brakes.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of engines, transmissions, and other components of the fleet.
- Complete work orders accurately and report any additional repairs needed.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot vehicle issues.
- Keep a clean and organized workspace to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations and other local guidelines.
- Communicate with supervisors and operators regarding vehicle issues and the status of repairs.
- Conduct on-road service calls within Durham region as required
- Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician License or a 3rd and 4th year apprenticeship
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a licensed 310T mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform major repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, as needed.
