Summary

This role is responsible for providing light housekeeping and meal prep for our clients. With the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or Manager, the worker performs duties as outlined in the Client Plan of Care. The duties vary according to the individual or families receiving service. The worker must work within a goal-directed, outcome based, client-centered philosophy.

Job Duties

  • Housekeeping: General day to day care of the home; and light housekeeping, such as dusting, vacuuming, laundry, dishes, etc.
  • Laundry: Either in the home or at the nearest facility
  • Nutrition: Prepare meals with respect to diet and budget
  • Home Management: Assist with shopping
  • Other Duties: Errands including grocery shopping and picking up essential supplies.

Recording Duties:

  • Complete accurate reports after assignments
  • Complete client confirmation sheets and have client sign to confirm service.
  • Complete and submit accurate time sheets, including travel time by the deadline.

Staff Development Training:

  • In-service sessions are offered during monthly staff meetings; attendance is highly recommended.
  • Workshops and training sessions held off site will be offered to employees as they become available.

  • To seek guidance from the Home Support Supervisor whenever in doubt.
  • To respect and maintain the confidentiality of the individuals, and/or families being serviced, as well as the organization.
  • To be reliable, courteous and arrive at assignments on time.
  • To notify the office of any illness, emergencies or delays.
  • To maintain a safe working environment that extends to all areas in which an employee may carry out his or her duties; including, but not limited to the employee's vehicle, and the client's home.
  • To follow the LEO Code of Ethics, Policies and Procedures.
  • To maintain a positive image of LEO in the community.
  • To follow the client's Plan for Care and together with the client, prioritize the routine activities to meet the individual's requirements or goals.
  • To motivate individuals toward self-sufficiency and independence.
  • To review performance with the program supervisor after probation, and yearly thereafter.
  • To understand and follow the Client Bill of Rights.

Qualifications / Conditions of Employment:

  • Grade 12 secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Able to carry out written and spoken instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license, and use of own vehicle
  • Submission of a clean driving abstract
  • Submission of a clean criminal reference check
  • First Aid and CPR qualifications must be current upon hire and be maintained throughout employment
  • Required to work day, evening and weekend hours
  • Interacts with clients, family members and agency staff.
  • Travel throughout Lambton County will be required.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting clients.

Miscellaneous

  • Other duties assigned by the Manager.
