We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team and be responsible for support, maintenance, and custom development related to the firm's financial systems. This role will work closely with the Accounting team and other internal business partners to develop, support, and maintain application functionality of the firm management system, Aderant Expert. The successful candidate will provide end user support; and develop, test, and implement integrations and application and database customizations. The Financial Systems Administrator must have Microsoft Windows applications and SQL Server development and support experience. A background in finance, accounting, and/or working in law firm would be advantageous.

Standard Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the firm's financial systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Application Development: Develop, support, and maintain the functionality of the firm management system, Aderant Expert. This includes application configuration, testing, and applying updates and application upgrades.
  • Custom Development: Develop custom solutions and enhancements to meet the specific needs of the firm's financial operations.
  • Integration Development: Develop and maintain integrations between internal financial applications, including time-entry, billing, accounting, and reporting systems. Also develop file and API integrations to external systems.
  • Database Customization: Customize and optimize MS SQL Server database packages, tables, scheduled reports, and other objects to improve efficiency and meet business requirements.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, customizations, and processes.
  • Innovation and Efficiency: Continuously seek opportunities to leverage technology to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Collaboration with Accounting Team: Work closely with the Accounting team and other internal business partners (lawyers, legal assistants, and others) to understand their needs and develop appropriate solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Education/Certification:
    • Graduate of an industry-recognized Computer Information Systems program;
    • Certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or other application certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Experience & Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in application development and support, preferably within a legal or professional services environment.
    • Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading applications in a Windows environment.
    • Strong knowledge of SQL Server, with the ability to write and optimize SQL queries and scripts.
    • Ability to troubleshoot database and server performance issues to ensure optimal application performance.
  • Finance and Accounting Knowledge:
    • Experience supporting financial systems - Aderant Expert, Thomson Reuters Elite, SAP, Oracle ERP or other medium to Enterprise level ERP systems.
    • Ideally, have experience with legal software applications, document management systems, and/or time and attendance applications.
  • Problem-Solving Skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including legal professionals, IT staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Project and Prioritization Skills:
    • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to handle multiple requests and projects simultaneously, effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks.
  • Location: This position is required to be on-site in our downtown Vancouver office.
