We require a permanent full-time Torch Cutter who will cut oversized scrap metal. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with the endurance and stamina to work in the yard (OUTDOORS) under all weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cut oversized metal using a cutting torch (oxy-propane)
• Working outside in the yard at all times
• Agility to climb in and around all shapes and sizes of metal for torching safely
• Sorting, picking, and processing metal pieces
• Assist in the maintenance of the equipment used in the performance of the job
• Recognize operational problems and report them to the supervisor
• Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
• Assist in other yard work and warehouse duties when the need arises
• Cleaning your work area and equipment at the end of your shift
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• While torch-cutting or previous industrial-setting experience gives you an advantage, it is NOT A MUST – we are willing to train the right candidate
• Knowledge of torching equipment is considered an asset
• Working knowledge of safety standards
• Good oral English communication skills required
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and on occasion above 50lbs with the use of mechanical aids or help from co-workers
• Able to work professionally and respectfully with a positive attitude and a high level of personal integrity at all times in a fast-paced working environment
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Work Conditions & Additional Information:

• Work location: 550 Messier St, Winnipeg MB
• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all times
• Exposure to heat and chemicals used in torches
• Wearing Respiratory Protection is part of the job
• Long hours of standing/sitting
• Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots
