Position Overview :
Intent of the Human Experience Consultant role (HX Consultant) role is to coach and guide home leaders and team members to implement and sustain the Butterfly-informed culture of emotion based person centered care.The role encompasses the highest level of Butterfly Approach knowledge within the organization - with the expectation it impart this knowledge to all individuals with whom it comes into contact and with the following key tenets:
Residents as the customer: the role serves LTC residents - to afford them a lived experience, every moment of every day, tailored to their individual preferences and capabilities.
Partnership with all caregivers: the role works with the LTC home Leadership Team, Resident & Family Councils, All home Team Members and all others involved in resident interactions.
Oversight to home HX Manager: for self-managed Butterfly pilots, the role coaches and has a dotted line supervisory relationship to this newly instituted role.
Emotional wellbeing on par with clinical safety & outcomes: the role upholds the same by training & use of Emotional Risk Assessments by pilot home Leadership Teams.
Mentorship of home leaders & team members. Also, serves as a subject matter resource and coach for the home Program Managers.
Team member wellbeing as the key enabler: the organization recognizes deep respect and consideration for individuals delivering care is key to the desired culture transformation.
As such, the role gauges the quality of team member person-centeredness and advises home leadership with respect to the same.
Responsibilities:
- Take on two self-managed implementation Butterfly pilots in 2024 - and prepare for accreditation by MCM in 2025 - based on the Butterfly Self-Implementation Project Plan
- Provide oversight to ensure sustainment of Butterfly at the 2023 accredited home/s and their successful re-accreditation in 2024.
- Provide regular progress reports for each home - including succinct action minutes following onsite visits.
- Both the above in accordance with the HX Consultant 2024 / 25 Timeline of Activities
- Annually implement at least 2 - if not 3 (or more) - Butterfly pilots (or a variation of the approach as determined by the organization). Continue to oversee previously accredited homes to secure continued accreditation - as determined by the organization.
- Cultivate relationships and collaborate with other Butterfly accredited practitioners to advance techniques, share practices, learnings and problem solve.
Note: responsibilities subject to change and refinement based on the organization's development of a bespoke person-centered care approach.
Qualifications
- Direct experience having led - as Butterfly Project Leader - a successful (accredited) Butterfly implementation pilot with MCM at Responsive.
Background in Social Services or Recreation
Degree in Social Work, Social Worker Diploma, Recreation Diploma - or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to:
- Coordinate Home Leadership team and frontline team members and meet accreditation project timelines and deliverables;
- Role-model emotion-based person-centeredness towards residents & team members;
- Train audiences with regard to MCM Butterfly training materials and all associated content; as well training with regard to other person-centered approaches, as the organization sees fit.
- Lead by personal influence: directly influence peers, subordinates and all parties to achieve desired outcomes - with minimal recourse to Supervisor intervention;
- Escalate concerns on an as-needed and timely basis, with consideration as to how to address the same;
- Devise new strategies to address issues or concerns with respect to implementation of the program;
- Perform emotional risk assessments using the MCM framework, working collaboratively with all required parties;
- Exercise emotional maturity and intelligence - as required by the role;
- Accurately self-assess areas of personal strength & opportunity, take action on the latter including by coaching and mentoring relations.
- Well developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact efficiently and courteously with residents, public, employees, and volunteers.
- Strong written and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
